When I'm working at home I like to listen to the radio. I feel it gives me inspiration because I hear new things and also people talking, which is nice when you're alone. I usually listen to NPR, but don't find the pledge drive all that inspiring so I moved on to WFUV and I'm pretty happy.

The artist of the day is Neil Young so they've been playing him and also people covering him. I just heard Johnny Cash do Heart of Gold and now a different artist doing Long May You Run. What great songs. I think I might abandon Neil and slip into a much needed block of Johnny Cash soon... but for now:

Today's To Do List

While I don't expect the $$$ to actually touch my hands today... I figured this would be a good way of looking at my free afternoon. Make $$$ is what it comes down to. For me this means submitting some ideas to a knitting magazine, finishing up some harfs to send out and bring by Treehouse, sending an email to see where my $$ is for the last job I did and if I feel inclined.... looking for more ways to advertise my ETSY or new places to sell my stuff. Yikes. That's a lot and I'm really excited about all of it. The trouble is, I also just bought stuff to make pie....
and because I am my mothers daughter, I can't do any of this until my house is clean.

Ok. I'm blasting some music and starting!

It's not really me to be so negative...

But why are so many blogs out there uggers??

I quite enjoy browsing blogs and webrings looking for inspiration, but I find so many unfocused photos and crazy colors I get frustrated. I want to be supportive and positive here at "Inspired Living" but what gives?

I thought digital cameras were supposed to be user friendly. Is it cooler to have unfocused pictures on your blog? Is it proper blog etiquette?

Back from outer space...

Pushing Daisies

Just might be my favorite new show! I'm just now watching the first episode online. I think it's really good and people should watch.

Here all all the reasons I love it so far:

1. The handsome leading man who's character is super, super charming
2. A completely impossible love story/interest that keeps us hoping
3. The main guy bakes pies for a living(!!!) in his place called the Pie Hole!!!
4. A supernatural element (which leaves all doors open in terms of plot lines)
5. The look is AMAZING! Vibrant colors, clashing patterns, lush set design... think Wes Anderson on acid.
6. Swoozie Kurtz & Kristen Chenoweth anyone???

It reminds me of the short lived show "Wonderfalls" which the leading guy, Lee Pace, also starred in. I bet they're done by the same peeps. Watch it and tell me what you think!

Camping

I just finished this hat in time for my camping trip in Bennington! I started and ripped it out five times!! (practically finishing each time too) I wish it was a little bit more floppy, but I can live. I just wanted a nice grey hat and I think I got it. I loosely followed the pattern for the Purl Beret.

Soon I'll begin stuffing clothes in my backpack, but for now I'm totally procrastinating by creating a cd for the road. I'll admit, I'm having a hard time picking outfits for this one. I always over pack, but since we'll be five in a tent, I thought I should pack light. It's just a three day thing... BUT it is reunion style, so I want to look ACAP (as cute as possible) just in case! I just assumed the weather up in VT would be chilly fall, but it's totally summer feeling right now... what do I do!!!

Then of course there's the knitting projects to bring... This is pretty easy. Ive got an order for some harfs to go to a new store called Olio United in Portland OR. It's my first West Coaster!! Yippeee. More please!!! So I'll be knitting those guys and hopefully soaking up inspiration for some new fall projects.

Really though, I just want to hang out on my old college campus, see a few leaves fall and perhaps even shed a tear or two. Is it strange that I'm totally expecting to cry?? Does anyone else love and miss their college this much? It's not like I'm dissatisfied or unhappy with what has happened since then, in fact it's quite the opposite. All it takes is a snippet of college lingo for me to well up though.

This weekend...

I'll be here camping with my bros and trying to avoid a major breakdown that could easily come from nostalgic overload. I hope it doesn't rain, that mosquitoes don't eat me up, that I don't freeze or roast to death cause who knows what the weather will really be like and that the trees look pretty. It probably hasn't gotten cold enough for leaves to have turned yet, but we'll see. I'll take plenty of pictures.
